Doing Good

Day 4 nearly complete and besides some fatigue and an interesting case of hiccups things are going well.  Friday Mom and I even met Richard downtown for lunch and a little wandering around Pioneer Square.  The hiccups started Friday morning and have been off and on ever since.  The thought is the port is irritating some nerves that control my diaphragm.  The only thing that has been working is a muscle relaxer they prescribed but of course that adds to the sleepiness. Hopefully the nerves chill out soon, hiccuping all day isn't too fun.  Overall though things are going really good :-)

  1. Hey Phil! Did the hiccups ever go away?

  2. Good News: the hiccups did finally go away on Sunday. Possible Bad News: my nurse thinks they may have been chemo induced and not due to the port irritation so they likely could be back next week. Sounds like they only stick around for a couple days and those that get hiccups generally don't have nausea. That would be a horrible combination.

  3. Oh Man! No kidding. Well, I'm going to pray that you don't get either, but if I could choose, it would probably be hiccups even though they stink.

  4. I agree with Michele! Glad you are feeling okay otherwise. Hope you can get out a bit and enjoy the lovely fall weather. Everything is yellow and gold over here.

  5. Did you try drinking water upside down? I swear, it works every time for me! I only knew about that trick a couple of years ago. Grab the glass of water as you would normally do, but bend over and put your upper lip on the outside of the glass and try to drink water like that. Works like a charm :)

    1. Isn't that called 'waterboarding'? Maybe it's OK if you do it to yourself...
